Umu Kultumie Tejan-Jalloh studied Business Administration at Howard University in the USA. After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 1976, she returned to Sierra Leone and worked in seven different institutions in the public bureaucracy and private sector. In 1996, she established Women in Food Marketing and Development, popularly known as “Girlsway”, and was awarded a certificate of merit by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. In 2010, she received the maiden National Integrity Award by Sierra Leone's Anti-Corruption Commission. She is currently a Distributor for the Sierra Leone Bottling Company, a bottling partner of the Coca Cola Company.
