Dr. Andrew James Weima was born on May 10, 1962 in Dia, Kissi Kama Chiefdom in the Kailahun District, Sierra Leone. He attended the Roman Catholic Primary School Dia (1970-76) and the Kissi Bendu Comprehensive Secondary School Koindu (1976-81) where he graduated in the first Division at the GCE O’level in 1981. He proceeded to Njala University College, University of Sierra Leone in October 1983 to undertake a degree program in Physics. He graduated in 1987 in the first division making him the first Sierra Leonean to graduate in that class from the Physics Department. In October 1987, Dr. Weima was employed as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the NUC Physics Department where he taught physics courses until September 1990, when he travelled to Germany on the German Academic Exchange Services (DAAD) scholarship to pursue graduate studies. In Germany, Dr. Weima Continued to pursue studies in Physics firstly at the University of Saarland and then at the University of Dortmund, graduating with a M.Sc degree in 1998. From 1998 to 2002, Dr Weima pursued a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Hagen in Germany. In October 2002, He migrated to the USA. In February 2003, he was employed as an Adjunct Professor at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Mount Vernon Ohio, USA, where he continues to teach physics classes to Physics, Medical and Engineering students.
